As I sit down to reflect on the past three years, my heart swells with gratitude and happiness at the thought of our sweet granddaughter Charlie Joy turning three. From the moment she entered our lives, she has been a constant source of laughter, love, and boundless energy.
Charlie Joy, aptly named for the joy she radiates, is a whirlwind of activity. It’s as if she’s discovered the secret to perpetual happiness, and she generously shares it with everyone around her (most of the time, remember she is three… LOL!). Whether she’s talking a mile a minute, singing her heart out, or twirling in spontaneous dances, Charlie is usually a bundle of pure, unbridled joy.
Despite her vivacious personality, we’ve come to learn that our little Charlie also treasures her moments of introversion. There’s a certain sweetness in watching her retreat into her own world, finding solace in quiet moments and recharging her feisty spirit.
Books hold a special place in Charlie’s heart. It’s heartwarming to see her tiny fingers eagerly flipping through pages, her eyes alight with curiosity. She’s embarked on countless adventures through the colorful pages of her favorite stories, and it’s clear that her love for books is setting the stage for a lifelong journey of imagination.
Charlie’s fascination with TV shows and movies is equally endearing. The way her eyes light up when her favorite characters grace the screen is a testament to the joy she finds in these moments of entertainment. It’s as if she’s absorbing the magic of storytelling, adding layers to her ever-growing understanding of the world.
She has a love for animals (especially dogs), dinosaurs, Magna-Tiles, babies, nature / playing outside, and anything she can do to get dirty. She is so busy and completely content to play alone, but also loves to have us play with her.
One can’t help but marvel at Charlie’s intelligence. Watching her tackle problems and figure out how things work is a daily reminder of the incredible capacity for learning that resides in such a tiny package.
And then there’s the sass—the delightful, unexpected sass that has become a trademark of our beloved three-year-old. It adds a playful spark to our days, a reminder that even in the midst of challenges, laughter is the best medicine.
Thank you God for the blessing of Charlie Joy, our little Covid surprise, who has been a beacon of light in challenging times. She’s a reminder that amidst uncertainty, love and joy have a remarkable way of shining through.
As we celebrate Charlie’s third birthday, we can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of love and adoration for this feisty, intelligent, and utterly lovable little soul. Oh how she has changed us, for the better. Happy birthday, sweet Charlie Joy. Praying your days continue to be filled with laughter, love, and the boundless joy you bring to us all. Grammy loves you!
