In the ever-evolving landscape of social media, there’s a trend making the rounds – the “get to know you” lists. It has me reflecting on the need for connection in a world that’s experienced a significant decline in social interactions since the Covid shutdown.
As we navigate these changed social dynamics, it’s surprising to realize the extent to which this shift has impacted my own life. Let’s take a light hearted journey as I peel back some layers and share, maybe unexpected, random facts about myself. I’d love for you to take a minute and comment a random fact about yourself.
- I missed writing, and have rekindled the passion for blogging (thus this blog). I am still trying to prioritize my time, finding that work/life balance is a dance I’m still figuring out.
- When I am passionate about something, I get pretty intense. I am willing to fight for what I believe is right.
- When I was young I used to write everyone poems or songs. I wanted to change my name to Cindy and sing the songs I wrote. (Yes, I got the name from the Brady Bunch!)
- I have a scar on my eye and eyelid from a rock fight in the alley behind my house in Detroit when I was young. My Grandma was watching us and as I was crying pink bloody tears, she made it all better by bringing me to the Dairy Queen. Just proves the answer is always ice cream.
- One of my favorite toys growing up was Daring Debbie. The female version of Evel Knievel. Oh the adventures I’d have! Making her motorcycle do stunts all over the house – tables, couches, you name it.
- I love laughter! Life’s not always sunshine, but I’m on a quest to find joy in the rain. I think we should live joyfully. I may not always be happy about my life situations, but I try to walk with joy through all circumstances. I try to speak positively and look for the good in situations. I’m not perfect and sometimes I do have self imposed pity parties, but very few people know about them (shhh!).
- I love to show God’s love in tangible ways. Giving without expecting anything in return. Our home is ALWAYS open to those who need help: a haven for anyone seeking a hand up, a hug, or a safe space. We have walked through some deep valleys and God always provided those special people to walk beside us. We are trying to do the same.
- My favorite beverage is… caffeine. Warm or cold, it is the wonderful nectar of the gods. I am thankful for the sweet, goodness of coffee, ice tea and Pepsi Max. I big fat squishy heart them! I indulge my love of the magical life of caffeine daily. It is one of those simple treasures in my life. Ok, for those who really know me, this could be the actual glue that holds me together.
- During my married years we have owned a blood hound, pug, French bulldog, American bulldog, french Bordeaux mastiff, guinea pig, many fish and 5 birds. Each pet holds a special chapter in our family’s story.
- People think I am an extrovert. I love people…the ones I know. With strangers and new situations I am quiet and withdrawn. I would never be able to eat in a restaurant or go to the movies alone. Networking events are torture for me! I am a crazy mix of introvert and extrovert. Yup, the Introvert-Extrovert Tango, the struggle is real. I am an ambivert.
- I am ambidextrous. I mostly use my right hand since that’s how I learned to do things as a child. I have an issue with remembering left from right. (As well as being totally directionally challenged.) Right-handed by habit, left and right confusion on the daily – a quirky side effect of being ambidextrous.
- I love kids (especially my granddaughters). I think our youth deserve our time and energy. I believe it is our responsibility to reach out and help those who need some guidance. To see them step out, up and succeed in life! One of the best investments of time and energy, offering hope, and cheering them on as they navigate this wild journey.
Life here on earth can be hard and way too short, let’s not forget to laugh, love, and share some joy along the way. Let’s all find ways to bridge the gap and rediscover the power of genuine connections in a world that’s longing for them.
Not too random but I love anything purple. The random part is that it has to be popsicle grape purple not lilac, not pinky purple, but purple! 🤣💜
